Here are five great web articles and discussions I’ve been following this week, in no particular order:
- On-Blogging
Blogging with a Heart.
Andrew Boyd reflects on Carlos Castaneda’s timeless question, “Does this path have a heart?”
- Problogger
Does Your Blog Focus on a Niche Topic or Niche Demographic?.
Problogger Darren Rowse – whose excellent posts could fill up my Friday Fives all by themselves – writes an insightful case study illustrating a really practical shift in focus for bloggers.
- Geeking Out Loud
A Few Suggestions for Avoiding the Regret of Living a ‘Virtual Life’.
Leif Hansen shares some thought-provoking suggestions for living more fully in the real world.
- Domestik Goddess
Storm Warning.
Jen/Domestika shares a little of her rural life with this beautifully vivid picture of a stormy afternoon.
- Gibberish in Neutral
Potterdammerung Mega Spoilers.
Sean wrote the most insanely funny plot synopsis of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows that I’ve read.
Let me know if there are any good conversations you’ve been enjoying in your corner of the web!

Thanks so much for including me in your Friday Five (pretty good company, too! - it’s a big compliment). You got a real knack for finding these things, and I really enjoyed all of the other four posts on the list - each one so different from the others, but all interesting, out of the ordinary, and well worth the read. Thanks again!

Opal - Thanks for commenting. I have enjoyed your articles on both your existing and your new blog.
Jen - I really enjoyed your post - your writing is always high quality, fresh and enjoyable.

Hi Jeri,
Thanks for the link and comment. I’m glad to see that there are others out there (though far too few) who both enjoy and are concerned about using technology responsibly/productively. I actually find it odd (with conspiritorial tones) that so few people are honest about their tech concerns/struggles when every person I talk to has them (whether its too much time wasted, lack of focus, porn, info-overwhelmed, etc).
I’m hosting a workshop in the Pacific Northwest called “Humanity 2.0 -where the tech are we going and do we want to go there?” that your readers may be interested in. Any plugs for it would be greatly appreciated. We don’t want a large group, but rather a diverse (technophile and neoluddites and all those in between) of thinkers who want to do some deep thinking (and playing) around this topic.
Check out the flyer here:

Thanks again for the link and keep up the great posts!

Hey Leif, it sounds like a fascinating workshop - and I love Orcas Island. (I’m on the Kitsap peninsula so not far away). Unfortunately, my hub’s work travel schedule means I can’t attend, I’m on solo mom duty, but I’d be happy to give it a plug.
